Adult Transition Program (ATP)

West Covina Unified School District's ATP is housed on the Coronado High School Campus. Our ATP program provides students ages 18-22 year olds, who received a high school certificate of completion, with a combination of classroom instruction and community experiences in the following: vocational skills, community based instruction, domestic skills (daily living skills), and personal life (recreation and leisure). The overall goal of ATP is to facilitate independence to the highest extent possible based on individual student's strengths and preferences. ATP provides transition support and development in the following skill domains:

Vocational Skills
  • Pre-employment and work readiness skills on campus and/or off-campus
  • Personal information and data practice
  • Paper and computer based job application practice as well as building resumes and cover letters.
  • Use of technology
  • Motor skills practice: packaging, assembly and disassembly, item sorting and stocking. 
  • Interest inventory questionnaires and Career interest surveys, as well as Job Exploration.

Community Skills
  • Community based instruction (CBI) both on campus and off-campus
  • Community safety
  • Community travel (Travel Training)
  • Identifying traffic and community signs
  • Eating out
  • Recreation and Leisure
Daily Living Skills
  • Money management and making purchases in the community
  • Identifying and counting dollar bills and coins.
  • Time Management
  • Household Chores, Kitchen safety and Home safety
  • Planning, purchasing, and making meals
  • Recipes, measuring and weighing ingredients,
