Hollencrest Awarded "California Schools to Watch" Designation

Congratulations to Hollencrest Middle School (HMS) for earning the prestigious “California School to Watch” designation!!!  The California Department of Education and California League of Schools has established the Schools to Watch Program to recognize middle schools that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, socially equitable, and highly collaborative.  Selected schools serve as models and mentors to other middle schools throughout the state and nation.  HMS underwent a rigorous application process that included a site visitation in December.  The team was most impressed by the “student’s first” philosophy embraced by

the staff and their willingness to explore and implement innovative strategies to meet student needs.  HMS will be honored at the annual “California Schools to Watch” conference in Monterrey, California in early March as well as the national conference in Washington, D.C. this June.  This School to Watch designation truly validates the vision, teamwork, and dedication of Dr. Katrina Garcia (Principal) and the entire HMS staff.
